Warner Bros. abandoned the idea to create an animated film based on Mortal Kombat vs. DC

The Mortal Kombat VS DC University game was almost adapted for a large screen. The project was a step away from the implementation, but Warner Bros. Suddenly refused to develop it.

Over the past years, many different Mortal Kombat animation projects have been released, including Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge, Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind and Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms.

The author of all these projects was Jeremy Adams, the creator of such animation films as Batman: Soul of the Dragon and Justice League: Warworld. In an interview with Comicbook, Adams said that the idea of such a project was proposed, but the producers of the film company rejected it.

I would like to reduce your expectations. I don’t know if they have plans to do something else. I know that we offered it once a long time, but we were refused.

I don’t know if they will do something else. I think yes, and I hope that they will invite me to take part. That would be great because I really like this idea.

However, I don’t know. Don’t even know. In my opinion, it would be very cool. Believe me, I would love to look at DC vs more kombat. That would be very, very cool.

The idea of creating an animated film, in which the heroes of Mortal Kombat and DC will resist each other, may seem unusual for those who are not familiar with video games, but it has its own history. In 2008. Mortal Kombat vs came out on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. DC Universe. The game was less cruel than traditional MK games, so the players did not use fatalities that have long been famous for the franchise. Despite this, the game earned the praise of the players due to the presence of famous characters from both universes in it: Superman, Batman, Joker, Sab-Ziro, Scorpio, Reiden and others.

The game never got a direct continuation, but Netherrealm retained its spirit in the Injustice series. In the original Injustice, Scorpio appeared as a DLC beetle, and in Injustice 2 as DLC beads-Raden and Sab-Ziro. Perhaps Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe will never see a new game, but the crossover was clearly not forgotten!

To date, the exit of the continuation of Mortal Kombat Legends, called "Cage Match", On digital platforms (and Blu-ray) is scheduled for October 17. The development is also a continuation of the militant of 2021, but the date of its release has not yet been determined.
